The New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division and Intellectual Technology Inc. have opened a self-service MVD Direct kiosk in the Cottonwood branch of the Sandia National Laboratories Federal Credit Union.
The new kiosk is available during lobby hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. The branch is at 3740 Ellison Road, Albuquerque, according to a news release from the MVD.
Kiosks allow customers to renew vehicle registrations, update driver information and pay traffic citations that are payable to MVD. Customers can pay with a credit card and print vehicle registration papers and stickers in as little as two minutes, and without visiting an MVD office.
The kiosks give instructions and voice prompts in English or Spanish.
There is a $3.95 fee in addition to the registration fee, plus a 2.3 percent credit card convenience fee for transactions, according to the release. However, MVD offers a 5 percent discount off the base registration cost on transactions conducted on the kiosks.
MVD Direct self-service kiosks are a partnership between MVD, Intellectual Technology Inc. and host businesses.
